Red Sky Ranch, Fazio Course
THANK YOU FOR A FABULOUS DAY ON THE GREEN!
Despite 40 degree temperatures, snow flurries and a
stiff breeze, 21 team completed all 18 holes on
Thursday, June 7, at the second annual Science On
the Green modified scramble golf tournament at Red
Sky Ranch. This hardy, spirited and focused group of
golf champions helped raise nearly $44,000 to
support science education for youth and adults in
Eagle County.
Two teams tied for first place with the low score of
107. The first of these teams to complete the course
included Kathy Borgen, Randi Jaerbyn, Patrik Jaerbyn
and Brett Snyder. The second team with the winning
score included Mac Macdonald, Dave Rawlings, Tim
Trout and Holly Perry, representing event sponsor
Keller Williams. Other awards went to Mary Lou Little
and Mitch Perry who walked away with the longest
drive, and to Cornelia Kraft and Chip Ruth for hitting
closest to the pin.
Prior to the tournament, staff from Ascent Physical
Therapy provided complementary stretching for
players who were eager for time at the driving range
before heading out on the course. However, most
players stayed out of the cold during pre-game
activities to enjoy a tasty lunch buffet prepared by
Summer Thyme, enter their name in the fabulous post-game drawing for a chance to win a snazzy Science
School Crazy Creek stadium chair and other exciting
prizes, and make last-minute Marmot purchases - the
Marmot is the Science School's version of a gimmee.
During the post-game revelry, Craig Struve, Director of
Television Operations for Vail Resorts, generated
excitement for two desirable live auction items
including an overnight stay at the Broadmoor hotel in
Colorado Springs, and a memorable "lunch with a
llama" hike with Paragon Guides. By the day's end, no
one seemed more rewarded than Dale Hughes of
Oklahoma. He not only won a signed photo of Greg
Norman and his signature golfer's hat, but was also
particularly proud to have played, for the first time ever,
in snow!
The Science School is grateful to all colleagues and
friends who braved the mountain elements to make
this event a great success. Sincere thanks to title
sponsor, Pason Systems USA, and all event and
product sponsors whose generosity make a
significant contribution to education in our valley.
